News from the ACO

Talking About Test Anxiety
President Joyce Kubik writes that she finds it heartbreaking every time she hears a student talk about how dumb they are because they scored the lowest on a test. We all know that tests do not fairly measure our clients' intellect, skills, or knowledge, and that too many students are suffering unnecessarily. But what can we do about it? Read more here.

Students with ADHD and Test Anxiety
Tamara Rosier, PhD, Research Committee Chair, reviews an article in the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment on test anxiety, it’s impact on students with ADHD, and how coaches can help. Read more here.

Get Involved in ADHD Awareness - It’s Easy!
Lisa Boester, ADHD Awareness Committee Chair, tells us about the history of ADHD Awareness Month (October, which is coming soon to a calendar near you!), and invites you to do three simple things. Read more here.

Researching ADHD in the Workplace
ADDA’s Workplace Issues Committee (on which several ACO member coaches serve) has prepared a survey to gauge ADHD issues in the work place. They are aiming to have at least 1,000 completed surveys by October 2014 and they need your help! Please take this survey yourself and forward it to your clients. The results will be used to help affect public policy. Read more here.
