KEYNOTE ADDRESS: An Outsider’s View of ADHD Coaching: Current Status and Future Directions

J. Russell Ramsay, Ph.D.

The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of the ongoing development of ADHD Coaching as an intervention for adults with ADHD. More specifically, this session will briefly review the evolution of ADHD Coaching, its status in a multimodal treatment plan, emerging outcome studies on its effectiveness for individuals with ADHD, and future directions for coaching interventions, research, and the challenges to be faced as the profession continues to define itself. Dr. Ramsay, a psychologist specializing in cognitive-behavioral therapy for adult ADHD, will provide his “outsider” observations of ADHD Coaching during his presentation and it is hoped the topic will spark discussion with participants during the session.

Coaching ADHD Plus: Executive Dysfunction, Working Memory, Tourette Syndrome, Obsessive-Compulsives Disorder and other Co-Morbid Disorders

Neuroscience for coaches

Daniel Pruitt

Current research shows that over two thirds of people with ADHD have at least one other co-morbid or associated disorder. To be an effective ADD coach it is necessary to understand the range of possible co-occurring disorders, how to recognize them, how to coach them, and when to refer them to an allied professional. This talk will include a discussion of the common co-morbid disorders that ADD coaches will encounter in their practice.

Coaching the World’s ADHD Brains to Empower Human Global Gains

Neuroscience for coaches

David Giwerc

David Giwerc, MCC, Founder/ President, ADD Coach Academy, will present key findings and their implications for ADHD coaching from the Academy’s two year study conducted in collaboration with: Michael Anderson, LCSW, ACG and Russell Ramsay, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry, University of Medical School of Pennsylvania, and Center for Cognitive Therapy & Adult ADHD Treatment & Research.

David will demonstrate how specific coaching models and strategies dramatically improve a client’s understanding of their own ADHD establishing a strong foundation for continued client progress and success.

Developing a Strong Referral Network

Bridge-building to the larger community

Sarah Wright

ADHD coaching is still relatively unknown and somewhat suspect to many people with ADHD and the licensed professionals who serve them. Here’s what you can do to address concerns and develop a strong referral network in your own community.

Dopamine Boosters: ADHD Medications and Neurobiology of the Brain Made Simple

Neuroscience for coaches

Laurie Dupar

Dopamine, synaptic gap, receptors & oh my! Transporters, methylphenidate, amphetamines & oh my! The words, the terms & the expressions from clients when trying to understand their ADHD. Explaining the neurobiology of the brain and the general principles of ADHD medications is a whirlwind of information, but it doesn’t need to be a disaster! Come to this session and let Laurie Dupar, ADHD Coach and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, teach you a less complicated yet professional way of helping your client better understand their unique brain and the medication concepts used to treat their disorder.

Is it ADD or ASD? How Autism Spectrum Disorder Differs from ADHD in How it Manifests and Implications for Coaching

Neuroscience for coaches

Chana Klein

The incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has zoomed in the past decade and is still increasing. Presented in the form of a PowerPoint Storybook you will learn to distinguish between Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. You will get a better understanding of the challenges, the similarities, the differences, the gifts, the brain-wiring, why ASDers display the behaviors they do and what the ASDer needs in a coaching relationship. Find out about being of service to a group of individuals who need you no matter what the economy and can truly benefit from what you have to offer.

Life Coaching, ADHD Coaching, and CBT for Adult ADHD: Compare and Contrast

Bridge-Building to Larger Community

Russ Ramsay, Joyce Kubik, Linda Anderson

This session represents a unique panel discussion among a Life coach, an ADHD coach, and a psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. The presenters are specialists in the treatment of adult ADHD and will provide overviews of their respective approaches, case examples, and will engage in a lively discussion amongst themselves and with the audience regarding the benefits and limitations of and boundaries between these similar though different treatment models for helping adults with ADHD.

Live Assessment: ICF Core Competencies In Action
Advanced Coach Training and Mentoring

Ira Dressner

Learn what an ICF assessment and oral examination requires. Ira Dressner will be coached by two people interested in getting their ACC or PCC and will give feedback on their strengths and areas of needed growth.

Masterful Coaching Clinic

Advanced Coaching/Mentoring (Coaching demonstrations)

Robert Garrett

Come see master coaching in action. Bring your most difficult client situations or personal situation, observe role playing and learn some new techniques. You will be asked to observe, learn and share on each situation. You will learn to identify ICF coaching proficiencies in action. The proficiencies used will be determined by the coaching situations brought by the participants.

Online Communities and Membership Sites: What every ADHD coach needs to know about online communities and how to create your own!

Technology and the online community

Sandra DeFrietas

In this fun, funny and interactive workshop we will discuss the importance of online communities and how to lead your own online community. We will provide you with a list of tools you will need to start your own online community as well as a checklist of what you need to create your community. We will cover planning strategies, creating content easily, promoting your membership site and retaining your members.

Release Stress with the Tibetan and Crystal Bowls

Personal Development

Ira Dressner

Take your coaching of ADHD Clients to a new revolutionary level.

Sailing the Seven Cs to a Remarkable ADHD Relationship: Coaching ADHD Couples back to Intimacy

Advanced Coach Training

Linda and Victor Roggli

ADHD couples arrive on your coaching doorstep with a special set of challenges. The non-ADHD partner is tired of shouldering all the “responsibilty;” the ADHD partner is tired of being treated like a child. Victor L. Roggli MD and Linda Roggli, PCC originally developed Sailing the Seven Cs to a Remarkable ADHD Relationship as a highly successful weekend retreat for couples. Now, they share their strategies and insight to help you coach ADHD couples toward the deeply satisfying relationship they deserve.

Techno-bling for Coaches: What Works and What Doesn’t

Technology and the on line community

Linda Roggli

Techno-bling. Those high tech gadgets and tools that are supposed to boost your coaching practice, build your email list and create better YouTube videos. But how can you tell which ones are worth your time and money? Ah, you come to this ACO session, that’s how!

A snippet of things you’ll hear about: wireless headsets, mind-mapping software, flip video, webcams, podcasting mikes, ergonomic keyboards, Bluetooth for your cell phone, client management sites, password protection, webinar providers, Skype vs Vonage, online postage, voice recognition software, digital recorders, no-touch cards for clients, online appointments & and a lot more. A lot.

You’ll have my personal recommendations with links, my video about exercising while you coach, some cool songs and a lot of fun. All techno folks welcome: techno-neophytes, techno-phobes and techno-cruisers!

The Science of Similar

Advanced Coaching and Mentoring

Jeff Copper

When you are stuck, what do you pay attention to? Do you pay attention to the obvious solution as if you are the same as everyone else? Or do you pay attention to how you are different? This presentation organizes science into categories, distinguishes each category from the other, and pays attention to the science of coaching, reinforcing how each client was created, naturally resourceful and whole, and how solutions resonate from how individuals are different!

Understanding the ADHD Brain for Successful Weight Management

Neuroscience for coaches

Barbara Luther

Current research shows a clear connection between ADHD, obesity, and eating disorders. Adults with ADHD face a 60-80% greater likelihood of being overweight and/or obese. Thirty percent of ADDers have Type 2 diabetes. Barbara Luther successfully dropped over 90 pounds in 13 months and will discuss ADHD brain wiring and executive function as it relates to weight issues. Barbara shares her experience as well as current research information from which to identify tools and strategies to support our clients in successfully managing their weight and eating.

Working Memory Training: Research and Practice

Neuroscience for coaches

Alan Graham and William Benninger

Working memory training is being widely used for the large percentage of children and adults diagnosed with AD/HD who have working memory problems. There is a growing body of research, including Dr. Benninger’s, that supports the effectiveness of this intervention. In this presentation, the participant will gain a broader knowledge of the role of working memory deficits in AD/HD and their effects on academics and everyday life. Details will also be provided about the use of a specific working memory training tool developed by Cogmed.

Technology and the on line community

Linda Roggli is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and a self-professed techno-addict. Her book, “Confessions of an ADDiva: Midlife in the Non-linear Lane” was published in 2010.
Advanced Coach Training and Mentoring

Victor and Linda shook hands in the Chili’s parking lot, were engaged in less than 6 weeks and married 11 months later. Whew! After a few false starts, more than our share of regrets and delights, we (Victor and Linda) finally forged the path to a marriage that is deeply satisfying—even with the added challenge of ADHD. In 2006, we began sharing our relationship wisdom with other ADHD couples in weekend retreats. We are pleased to share the Seven Cs with you.

Victor L. Roggli, MD is a tenured professor of Pathology at Duke University Medical Center and Linda Roggli, PCC is an ADHD coach for midlife women and the creator of GardenSpirit Guesthouse and Retreat in Durham, NC.

Bridge-building to the larger community

ADHD coaching is still relatively unknown and somewhat suspect to many people with ADHD and the licensed professionals who serve them. Here’s what you can do to address concerns and develop a strong referral network in your own community.

will be held from 1-4 pm
on Friday, April 30 at the hotel.

Click here for more information about the conference

Understanding the ADHD Brain for Successful Weight Management

Barbara Luther

Current research shows a clear connection between ADHD, obesity, and eating disorders. Adults with ADHD face a 60-80% greater likelihood of being overweight and/or obese. Thirty percent of ADDers have Type 2 diabetes. Barbara Luther successfully dropped over 90 pounds in 13 months and will discuss ADHD brain wiring and executive function as it relates to weight issues. Barbara shares her experience as well as current research information from which to identify tools and strategies to support our clients in successfully managing their weight and eating.

ADHD couples arrive on your coaching doorstep with a special set of challenges. The non-ADHD partner is tired of shouldering all the responsibility; the ADHD partner is tired of being treated like a child.
Victor L. Roggli MD and Linda Roggli, PCC originally developed “Sailing the Seven Cs to a Remarkable ADHD Relationship” as a highly successful weekend retreat for couples. Now, they share their strategies and insight to help you coach ADHD couples toward the deeply satisfying relationship they deserve.
