Rick Green, Writer, Director, Producer and Founder of Receives The Order of Ontario

Toronto, ON – January 18, 2016 – Rick Green, founder of and producer of the ground-breaking documentary ADD & Loving It?!, has been appointed to The Order of Ontario.

The Order of Ontario is the province’s highest official honour. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence and achievement benefiting the people of Ontario or anywhere in the world. Appointments are made on the recommendation of an independent advisory council based on public nominations.

A gifted writer, director, producer and performer, Rick has also become a mentor and inspiration to millions of people living with adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in Canada, and around the world. Like many adults, Rick was unaware of his ADHD until he was diagnosed at 47. Driven by his own experiences, and struggles with this hidden saboteur, he committed himself to addressing the stigma surrounding ADHD through education, understanding, and laughter.

Through two documentaries (ADD & Loving It?!, and ADD & Mastering It!), a book, (ADD Stole My Car Keys), the website, and other efforts, Rick has helped to create some of the world’s leading resources for people living and working with ADHD, as well as families, doctors, coaches, and schools.

Rick began his career as a teacher at the Ontario Science Centre, developing programs and plays for the general public and school groups. He left in 1979 to become a full-time comedian. He has written and performed in hundreds of television programs, radio shows, and stage productions. Rick’s credits include The Frantics, History Bites, Prisoners of Gravity, and The Red Green Show.

In making the announcement, The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario said: “The Order of Ontario recognizes exemplary service of the highest calibre. These 25 accomplished individuals inspire us. From breaking ground in advances in health care, to speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves, to nourishing our souls through art and music, they have served this province with dedication and generosity. To them we are grateful.”

The 2016 Investiture Ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 20th with the presentation of the Order of Ontario at 4:00 p.m. This ceremony is available through LiveStream:
